Chicago lone unbeaten and untied team left

[WPSL ELITE] The Chicago Red Stars improved to 3-0-0 in the WPSL Elite League when they beat the Boston Breakers, 1-0, Sunday night at North Central College. Red Star forward Michele Weissenhofer scored the lone goal of the game in the 34th minute on an assist from Lori Chalupny to hand the Breakers their first loss after five wins.

"Having just played the other night [4-0 win at FC Indiana on Friday] and five games this season, we were a little bit tired," Breakers coach Lisa Cole said. "It was a tough game. I think we’ll be fine. We just have to get off to a good start. But credit to Chicago. They are a good team. We have to be better, but I’m not overly disappointed or worried about our play."

Jamie Forbes made eight saves as she stymied Katie Schoepfer, WPSL Elite's leading scorer (eight goals).

Despite the loss, the Breakers remain in first place, five points clear of second-place New York Fury, which drew 0-0 with the Western New York Flash Sunday night.
