[DATEBOOK] A year after opening his tenure against Mexico, Jurgen Klinsmann will take the U.S. national team Aug. 15 to Mexico City's Azteca
Stadium for a friendly against the Tri. The announcement of the game was made by the Mexican federation.
The USA and Mexico played to a 1-1 tie in Klinsmann's debut. The game came two
months after Mexico won the Gold Cup with a 4-2 win over the United States in the final.
This is very smart from Der Kaiser. Most of the players have experienced Azteca many times. The coaching staff need to be in that beast before they play a meaningful game there.
Going to be a tough game, Mexico just beat Brazil 2-0, while USA was thrashed 4-1 and unfortunately have not played convincingly in their World Cup Qualifiers.
This is a better warmup for USA than it is for Mexico. Mexico is on another level right now. USA will play its 2 most important games this year right after v Jamaica. Mexico has 2 good ones vs Costa Rica who is playing well. What a shame that Costa Rica and El Salvador got Mexico in the same group. These 2 teams deserve to be in final round. Why doesn't Conmebol and Concacaf come together and become on entity like Uefa?
