U.S. U-15s bow out, Romero huge in goal

[COPA MEXICO DE NACIONES] The U.S. under-15 national team bowed out of the Copa Mexico de Naciones in Mexico City when it was held to a 0-0 tie by Colombia on Wednesday.

The tie, which followed a 1-0 loss to Spain and 3-1 win over Costa Rica, left the Americans tied with Colombia, which advanced with a greater goal differential.

The game featured an extraordinary three-save sequence by U.S. goalkeeper Abraham Romero.

DJ Villegas had two goals and Sebastian Elney added the third in the win over Costa Rica. All three goals came of rebounds.

Romero kept the Colombia in the match, saving two penalties by Jhon Miranda -- and the rebound on the second attempt. Romero saved the first shot but the kick was ordered to be retaken due to encroachment.

Romero then made the save on the second attempt and followed it up with a point-blank save on the rebound.
