Dos Santos and Salcido head Mexico squad

[OLYMPIC COUNTDOWN] Giovani Dos Santos and Carlos Salcido, who started on Mexico's 2011 Gold Cup championship team, are among the 18 players picked to represent Mexico in men's soccer at the 2012 London Olympics.

Salcido, who plays for Tigres, was one of three over-age selections along with Jesus Corona of Cruz Azul and Oribe Peralta of Santos,

Dos Santos, who plays for Tottenham, is the lone foreign-based player in the squad.

The team begins training on Wednesday in preparation for its first game July 26 against South Korea in Newcastle.

Goalkeepers: Jesus Corona (Cruz Azul), Jose Antonio Rodriguez (Guadalajara).
Defenders: Israel Jimenez (Tigres), Carlos Salcido (Tigres), Hiram Mier (Monterrey), Darvin Chavez (Monterrey), Diego Reyes (Club America), Nestor Vidrio (Pachuca), Miguel Ponce (Guadalajara), Nestor Araujo (Cruz Azul).
Midfielders: Hector Herrera (Pachuca), Javier Cortes (UNAM), Marco Fabian (Guadalajara), Javier Aquino (Cruz Azul), Jorge Enriquez (Guadalajara).
Forwards: Oribe Peralta (Santos), Raul Jimenez (Club America), Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham).

    What happened to Pulido? He was the leading scorer for Mexico in Olympic Qualifying.
