Bert van Marwijk has resigned as Netherlands coach in wake of his team losing all three of its games at Euro 2012.
Van Marwijk, who guided the Dutch to a runner-up
finish at the 2010 World Cup, had a contract through the 2016 European Championship. But the Netherlands, which entered Euro 2012 as a favorite, fell to Denmark, Germany and Portugal.
After post-tournament meetings with the Dutch soccer federation (KNVB) that it called “open, frank and constructive,” Van Marwijk decided there was no reason to continue.
