Bornstein stuck at Tigres

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Unable to find any playing time at Tigres, Jonathan Bornstein hoped things would change with a move to Atlanta in Cancun, but the U.S. international will remain with Tigres in Monterrey after a loan deal reached in June fell apart when Atlante couldn't reach an agreement on paying Bornstein's salary.

Bornstein, 27, moved to Mexico in January 2011 but found time limited at Tigres, which has had one of the best backlines in Mexico.

Atlante said it would prefer to recruit a player from overseas rather than pay the money Bornstein was earning at Tigres.

Bornstein hopes a full preseason with Tigres -- his first with the club -- will improve his chances of playing on the first team.
