Boyd scores twice in debut, Gomez hits winner

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Terrence Boyd had a pro debut to remember, scoring two goals and setting up a third in Rapid Vienna's 4-0 victory over Wacker Innsbruck on Saturday to open the 2012-13 Austrian season. Herculez Gomez had the winning goal for Santos in its 2-1 win over San Luis to open the Mexican league season. Josh Gatt scored his fifth league goal of the season in Norwegian club Molde’s 2-1 loss at home to Viking. 

The Rapid-Wacker game was the 21-year-old Boyd's first since joining Rapid from German champion Borussia Dortmund, where he never played for the first team.

He scored in both halves, bowled over a Wacker defender to set up another goal and wasn't far off on a bicycle kick.



Gomez's goal in the 71st minute broke a 1-1 tie. Michael Orozco Fiscal started for San Luis.

Joe Corona and Edgar Castillo started and Greg Garza came off the bench in Tijuana's 2-0 win over Puebla for which DaMarcus Beasley started but later left with an injury.

Jonathan Bornstein came on as a sub in Tigres' 4-0 win at Jaguares. He had not played one league game last season for the Monterrey club.

On Sunday, Francisco Torres went 77 minutes in Pachuca's 0-0 tie at Atlante, former Mexican great Hugo Sanchez's first match as Pachuca coach.



Gatt was later injured and left the game against Viking. Molde is in second place in the Tippeligaen.

Clarence Goodson and Conor O'Brien started and received yellow cards in their matches in Denmark's SAS-Ligaen.

Charlie Davies debuted for Randers'  in 1-0 win over Odense BK, coming off the bench and playing the last 21 minutes.
