Rangers' Americans (Edu, Bocanegra, Bedoya) in limbo

With bankruptcy sending Glasgow Rangers to the third division of Scottish soccer, the club's three Americans are weighing their options.

Maurice Edu has told Manager Ally McCoist he wants to quit Rangers before the end of the month. Edu, the 26-year-old who joined Rangers in 2008, awaits a new offer after a move to Spanish side Valencia collapsed. He has a $465,000 release clause and reportedly has interest from Italy's Sampdoria and France's Valenciennes.

Scott Burns reports that 33-year-old U.S national team capatin Carlos Bocanegra, who joined Rangers last season, told McCoist he would be happy to stay but couldn’t rule out leaving during the transfer window.

Midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, 25, has returned to Ibrox, but he could be on the move soon. His move to Helsingborgs but has been put on hold after the Swedish club saw the sale of one of its players fall through.
