Wednesday’s friendly between Real Madrid and AC Milan drew a record Yankee Stadium crowd of 49,474 fans.

Rumored to be on the way out — perhaps back to AC Milan — Kaka had three assists to lead Real Madrid to a 5-1 win in the second game of the summer at the new Yankee Stadium.

The original Yankee Stadium was thesite of some of the largest crowds in the country in the 1950s and 1960s.

Pele’s Santos drew three of the six largest crowds at the original Yankee Stadium, including a record 43,702 fora game against Napoli in 1968. The previous record was a crowd of 43,177 in 1947 for a match between Hapoel of Palestine and a U.S. all-star team.
