Diskerud: Move to Rosenborg 'feels a little special'

[AMERICANS ABROAD] U.S. international Mikkel Diskerud has has changed Norwegian clubs, moving from struggling Stabaek to perennial power Rosenborg in a short-term deal that allows him to become free agent at the end of the year.

The 21-year-old Mix said it would be a honor to play for Rosenborg, winner of six league titles in the last decade.

"This feels a little special," Diskerud told the club web site. "Rosenborg has been the best team in Norway and has been there for decades. It will be an honor to play for a club that wants to [raise the trophy]."

Born in Norway to an American mother and Norwegian father, Diskerud has two senior caps for the USA and also played in Olympic qualifying.

He played 81 games, starting every game in 2010 and 2011 for Stabaek, before moving on loan to Gent of Belgium for the first half of 2012.
