Italian Linari hits 'truly unbelievable' goal

[RISING STARS] Italy hasn't done much in women's soccer in recent years, but it got off to a good start at the Under-20 Women's World Cup with a 1-1 tie against South American powerhouse Brazil. The Italian goal came on a wondrous free kick from Elena Linari from 30 yards.

Even Linari was shocked by the shot, telling fifa.com the next day, "I do train hard, but even so that shot was truly unbelievable.”

Linari, 18, has already played two full seasons for Firenze in Italy's Serie A women's league.

Women's soccer in Italy has fallen behind soccer in Scandinavia and Germany, and even France and Spain have become European powers, so Linari hopes a strong showing by the Azzurrine will give the women's version of calcio back home a boost.

Amanda's goal was just about as good, so it's worth watching the entire highlight.
