Cassano and Pazzini switch sides

Serie A rivals Inter Milan and AC Milan have conducted a deal rare in international soccer. A trade.

Antonio Cassano, 30, was at training with Inter and Giampolo Pazzini, 28, with AC Milan on Wednesday morning. Upon completion of medical exams, AC Milan posted a statement on its Web site that read: "AC Milan announces that it has acquired outright from FC Internazionale Giampaolo Pazzini and simultaneously has sold Antonio Cassano outright to FC Internazionale."

A fee of 7 million euros ($8.7 million) is believed to have been paid by AC Milan to Inter as part of the deal, which in the parlance of international soccer is referred to as a "swap." Cassano's departure follows in the wake of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva being sold to help AC Milan stabilize its finances.

Inter welcomed its newest signing with a brief message on their own site. It read: "Today is the first day of Antonio Cassano's adventure at Inter. This morning the striker arrived at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti, where Andrea Stramaccioni and captain Javier Zanetti were waiting to welcome him."'
