[CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE] The Houston Dynamo may never have as easy a game in Central America as it had Wednesday in beating FAS of Salvador at the Cuscatlan
Stadium in San Salvador in its opening game in the 2012-13 Concacaf Champions League.
Brian Ching, Dam Weaver and Je-Vaughan Watson all scored on wide-open headers to give the Dynamo a 3-1 win.
FAS never seriously tested until the Dynamo had gone ahead 3-0 after the hour mark when Watson scored on an uncontested header off Nathan Sturgis' corner kick.
FAS's weakness in the air had been exposed in its 3-0 loss to Olimpia in its opening CCL match and the Dynamo exploited it quickly.
Early in the first half, Colin Clark and Kofi Sarkodie had set up Ching and Weaver for easy putaways in front of the FAS goal.
Sub Jonathan Aguila scored on a scramble to make it 3-1 in the 64th minute, but young Dynamo keeper Tyler Deric handled the pressure of a late FAS surge well.
Deric has played only two MLS games in four seasons.
