EAST. No. 13 St. John's got a goal from Nick Matthews in the fourth minute and cruised to a 3-0 win over Boston University. Andres Vargas and Jack Bennett added goals on either side of halftime.

-- Senior Kevin Mejia and freshman Jason Abbott combined for a pair of first half goals to lead No. 11 Boston College to a 2-1 win at Quinnipiac.

MIDWEST. No. 9 Indiana utilized an own goal in the 67th minute to post a 2-1 win over Saint Louis before a crowd of  5,346 at Hermann Stadium. Jon Roeckle opened the scoring for the Billikens in the 22nd minute, but Eriq Zavaleta equalized for Indiana 12 minutes later.

-- Ryan Wehking set a Green Bay record with the 19th shutout of his career as the Phoenix opened the season with a 1-0 win over Northern Kentucky.

SOUTH. No. 10 USF rallied for goals from Brenton Griffiths and Ben Sweat a minute apart midway through the second half to give the Bulls a  2-1 victory over Michigan before a regular-season record crowd of 3,076 at Corbett Soccer Stadium.

-- Preseason All-American Ashton Bennett scored two goals and added an assist to lead No. 14 Coastal Carolina to a 4-0 win over Longwood.

-- Sophomore Quentin Albrecht scored two goals to lead FIU to a 2-0 win over Bryant and give Kenny Arena his first career victory as head coach of the Panthers.

WEST. Visiting California got goals from Alec Sundly in the 18th minute and Tony Salciccia from the penalty spot in the the 72nd minute for a 2-1 victory over Santa Clara.

-- No. 25 UC Irvine for goals from Cameron Iwasa and transfer Gor Kirakosyan to open with a 2-0 victory at San Diego.

-- Sagi Lev-Ari scored twice in his Cal State Northridge debut to lead the Matadors to a 4-0 win over Portland.
