Wilmington and Richmond move into semifinals

[USL PRO] No. 5 seed Wilmington Hammerheads earned revenge for their defeat to the Richmond Kickers in last season’s playoffs with a 3-2 win at Richmond in the quarterfinals of the 2012 USL PRO playoffs. No. 3 Charleston Battery also advanced to the semifinals, rallying from an early deficit to earn a 2-1 victory over the Harrisburg City Islanders Saturday night.

The Kickers took the lead on Jason Yeisley's goal in the 12th minute, but the Hammerheads scored twice on goals by Troy Cole and Steven Perry midway through the second half to go ahead 2-1. The Kickers evened the score in the 79th minute on Edson Elcock's header off a corner.

Wilmington will now travel to No. 1 seed Orlando City in Friday night’s semifinals.

The Battery rallied from a goal down to win on goals by Nicki Paterson from the penalty spot and Tony Donatelli to move into the semifinals against the Rochester Rhinos Friday night at Sahlen’s Stadium.

Harrisburg, last year's runner-up, had taken the lead in the 15th minute on Brian Ombiji's goal.
