Brazilian playmaker Kaka admitted that he had received no offers aside from a Chinese team’s interest and aims to make the best of his situation at Real Madrid.
The30-year-old joined Real Madrid from AC Milan in 2009 on a transfer fee of more than $90 million but, partly because of injuries, has failed to establish himself in Coach JoseMourinho‘s squad. The 2007 World Player of the Year did not see action in Real Madrid’s first two La Liga games of the season, nor was part of Real Madrid’s Super Cup win over Barcelona.
“I don’t want to be a burden on the club,” Kaka said. “I didn’t leave because no offers were made. … I don’t expect to go straight back into the team. I just want to beamong the players pushing for a place. I feel like I’m starting all over again at 30, after having won everything. I ask myself: Wouldn’t it be better to go somewhere else, where I canplay more? The answer is ‘yes’ and I’m still open to this.’”
On his relationship with Mourinho, Kaka said, “We have a professional relationship and mutual respect for each other. Itcomes down to the fact that he has more faith in other players, which is why they are picked ahead of me. … I arrive and train before the others, in a double session. I’m training more thanever now that I’m not playing. I’m training more than the others to try to force my way back into the picture. I’m not working hard to get back into the team like before, but just tobe among those considered to play.”
