[AKRON-INDIANA] No. 4 Akron beat Indiana for the third straight time with a 1-0 victory over the No. 7 Hoosiers Friday night in the first game of Notre Dame’sMike Berticelli Memorial Tournament. Eric Stevenson had the lone goal in the 19th minute for the Zips, who won the game with an excellent first half.

Senior David Meves turned in perhaps his best performance on the season in goal with four saves, including a pair of big stops in the second half.

The Zips broke through  when freshman Dillon Serna beat his defender on the left flank and crossed the ball to Stevenson, who tucked his shot justinside the far right post.

It was the second goal and game-winner of the season for Stevenson.

IU’s best chance came when NikitaKotlov banged a shot off the right post.

Akron coach Caleb Porter is now 3-1-1 against his alma mater since leaving his job as an assistantin Bloomington.

NOTRE DAME-OREGON STATE. A goal from left back Max Lachowecki in the 81st minute gave the No.13 Notre Dame a 1-0 victory over Oregon State the nightcap at a rainy Alumni Stadium.
