[WEST VIRGINIA-OKLAHOMA STATE] Junior Frances Silva‘s brilliant individual effort with 88 seconds remaining and stellarplay by the defense earned West Virginia a 1-0 win over No. 8 Oklahoma State Sunday afternoon in their first Big 12 meeting at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. It was the second win of the season over a Top10 program for the Mountaineers (6-3-3), who beat No. 2  Stanford on Aug. 26.
 
Defender Jess Crowder played a ball up to midfield, whereforward Kate Schwindel touched it on to Silva. Silva beat her defender, raced toward the top of the box, where he beat the OSU center back at the top of the boxand send a blast into the upper left corner for her seventh goal in the last four matches.
 
The Mountaineer back line of Bry McCarthy, Leah Emaus, Mallory Smith and Crowder held the Cowgirls to only one shot on goal inthe second half.

OSU All-American goalie AD Franch was called on to make a season-high seven saves.

The Cowgirls (9-3-0), who alsolost at Kansas, 2-1, in their Big 12 opener on Friday, were playing without injured starters Kristen Kelley and MiriamRhinehart.
