MLS hits 5 million mark

[MLS ATTENDANCE] Thirteen games in Week 29, which included a surprisingly large crowd in New England, averaged more than 19,000 as MLS hit the 5 million mark. ... For MLS team attendance rankings ...

* The New England Revolution's announced crowd of 24,364 for its 1-1 tie with the New York Red Bulls was nearly twice what the Revs have been averaging this season. The Revs, who were eliminated from playoff contention a week earlier, remain last in attendance average this season.

* The Chicago Fire followed up on the 17,691 it drew last weekend with 19,172 for its Week 29 clash against Columbus, a 2-1 Fire win.

* League attendance leader Seattle boasted the biggest crowd of the week -- 38,948 for a 2-1 loss to San Jose.

* After 283 games, MLS's total announced attendance is 5,244,253.

* The league-wide average after 283 games is 18,531.

* MLS's highest season attendance averages were 17,872 in 2011 and 17,406 in its inaugural season of 1996.
