Italian club Napoli's reserve team program and later Nola in Serie D (fifth level of Italian soccer) and FC Hochst in Austria's third division. He returned home to play for the 2011 USL PRO runner-up
Harrisburg City Islanders.
In his debut, Bernardo, who called it "a very humbling experience being able to travel around the world and experience
different cultures and traditions," helped set up the late winner as Deportivo Guastatoya won its first game of the 2012 Torneo Apertura.
