Agent: Conte accuser tried to sell story

Antonio Conte, coach of Italian champion Juventus, is serving a 10-month ban for failing to report what he knew about plans to fix a Serie B match when he was coaching at Siena in 2010-11, and a celebrity agent says Conte's sole accuser, Filippo Carobbio, tried to sell the story to the media.

In an interview with Radio 24, Fabrizio Corona said Carobbio, who played at Siena, and his wife came to him to sell the story to the media.

“Everyone knows they can make money from these stories,” said Corona. “I knew an interview with Carobbio could have a huge economic value, what with Conte being the coach of Juventus. Carobbio and his wife came to me asking to negotiate an interview deal."

Conte is appealing his ban and may use Corona's claim to attack Carobbio's credibility.
