Suspect leaves 'apology' note

[JONES MURDER] The suspect in the brutal murder of 25-year-old New York Red Bulls youth soccer Michael Jones on Sunday morning in lower Manhattan left a note for a family member before he flew to Mexico that said, “I’m sorry.”

New York police commissioner Ray Kelly said investigators would most likely head to Mexico to pursue Orlando Orea, who flew to Mexico City from Kennedy International Airport shortly before his name was placed on a no-fly list.

Kelly said the State Department, Interpol and Mexican authorities were aiding in the search for Orea, who wrote in a note found in his Queens apartment, “I’m sorry. I love you very much. I hope you can forgive me.”

It is not sure whether Orea was apologizing for the murder or for the trouble he had caused his family.

Orea is believed to be in Puebla, home to many of the Mexican immigrants who have come to New York in the last two decades.
