He must not be in very high demand: Argentina's 31-year-old striker, Hernan Crespo, is still a Chelsea player despite loudly proclaiming his intention to return to his beloved Italy. For months, he's
been telling anybody who's willing to listen that he and his family are unhappy with life in England. Chelsea doesn't seem to care. The club's reaction is similar to that of Manchester United over
offers for Ruud Van Nistrelrooy: "He is contracted for the next two years and will remain so unless we receive a suitable offer." Crespo told Tuttosport that his "one wish" was to return to Italy,
where he has a house outside of Milan. He said that Cheslea owner Roman Abramovich offered him a house, a private jet and more money. He said the club has treated him like a king and he thanked the
fans before reiterating: "I am waiting here, just hoping my mobile will ring." If that offer never comes, Crespo may have to be content with a few second-string performances next season. "Everyone at
Chelsea is aware of his domestic situation and we have every sympathy for that," Chelsea said in a statement. The club then confirmed that Abramovich had offered Crespo certain concessions, which he
rejected due to his decision to leave. "Italy is my natural environment, it's where I'll live when I retire and it's the best place to play," Crespo said. With Damien Duff, Asier Del Horno and
possibly Crespo gone, it could make way for a few more signings at Stamford Bridge next seasonthe most likely of which is Arsenal left back Ashely Cole.
