Multiple scenarios possible for advancing

[USA-GUATEMALA] The USA and Guatemala head into the game with a three-point over Jamaica, which hosts Antigua & Barbuda in the other Group A finale.

The USA qualifies if ...

-- It beats Guatemala;
-- It ties Guatemala;
-- It loses to Guatemala and Jamaica loses to or ties Antigua & Barbuda;
-- It loses to Guatemala and Jamaica beats Antigua & Barbuda by a combined margin of two goals;
-- It loses to Guatemala and Jamaica beats Antigua & Barbuda by a combined margin of three goals AND Jamaica scores no more than three goals or scores no more than three more goals than the USA scores.

(Note: USA will win the sixth tiebreaker with Jamaica thanks to away goal in the 2-1 loss in Kingston.)

GROUP A: 1. USA (8-5) 10 points; 1. Guatemala (8-5) 10;  3. Jamaica (5-5) 7; 4. Antigua & Barbuda (3-9) 1.

GROUP B: 1. *Mexico (13-2) 15 points; 2. Costa Rica (7-5) 7; 3. El Salvador (8-9) 5; 4. Guyana (5-17) 1.
*Clinched berth in the finals.

    Go US! Group C is very interesting tonight as well. I cant believe Honduras in jeopardy and needs a result against a tough Canadian team. I wish we could see that match live in the USA tonight too.

    Are those playoff scenarios all correct? The US still qualifies even if Jamaica wins 3-0 and the US loses, for example 1-0? Jamaica would be +3 on goal differential and the US would only be +2, wouldn't it?

    Chris, you missed the "combined margin of no more than three goals" part. If we lost 1-0 and Jamaica won 3-0, they would go through, but if we lost 1-0 and they won 3-1 , we would go through. On the other hand, if we lost 1-0 and they won 4-2 (a similar margin, but them scoring more than 3 goals), they would go through. That's my reading of the scenarios, anyway. I'll be pretty pissed if it comes down to any of these scenarios, though.
