Church takes blame after another home loss to Heels

[DUKE-NORTH CAROLINA] No. 7 North Carolina spoiled Senior Night at Duke with a 2-0 win over the No. 6 Blue Devils. Meg Morris
and Kealia Ohai scored goals early in each half for Carolina, which dominated the game before a noisy and wet crowd of 2,134 fans in Durham, where the
Tar Heels are now 13-0-0 all-time.
“I will take the blame on this myself,” said Duke coach Robbie Church. “I did not inspire my
team. I thought Carolina was much more inspired today. They played harder and I thought the best team won today’s game. I did not motivate our whole group. I thought a lot of our kids played
hard and our seniors played extremely hard too.”
Carolina went ahead on a sensational goal by Morris off an assist from freshman midfielder Katie
Bowen in the 10th minute
The Tar Heels dominated the reminder of the first half, outshooting the Blue Devils, 9-1, but were unable to get a second goal before
intermission.
It took less than eight minutes into the second half, however, for the Tar Heels to add a second goal when freshman Summer Green
delivered a perfect cross to the onrushing Ohai, who took the pass in stride and scored her fourth goal of the season since returning from the Under-20 Women's World Cup, where she had the
winning goal in the final for the USA.
Adelaide Gay went the entire way in goal for UNC and posted her third straight solo shutout, making three
saves.
