Gomez goal leads Santos past Toronto FC

[CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Week 6] Herculez Gomez's goal gave Santos of Mexico a 1-0 win over Toronto FC and clinched the Group 1 title in the Concacaf Champions League. Fellow American teen Benji Joya also started for Santos. Three MLS teams (Houston Dynamo, Los Angeles Galaxy and Seattle Sounders), three Mexican teams (Santos, Tigres and defending champion Monterrey) and Costa Rica's Herediano have clinched berths in the quarterfinals. The eighth berth will be decided when Guadalajara of Mexico hosts Xelaju of Guatemala on Thursday.

The Sounders, who had already clinched the Group 4 title, won their fourth straight game with a 3-1 win over Marathon of Honduras.

Seattle, which got goals from Sammy Ochoa, David Estrada and Steve Zakuani, is one of only three teams to finish with 4-0-0 records. Santos and Monterrey are the others.

Seattle, the No. 3 seed, will face Tigres if the Galaxy wins its final (otherwise) meaningless game at El Salvador's Isidro Metapan, the Galaxy if the Galaxy ties and Houston if the Galaxy loses.
