BU, unbeaten, untied and uninvited

[AMERICA EAST] The America East Tournament begins without its regular-season champion. Boston University completed its third straight undefeated and untied season in America East play with a 1-0 win over New Hampshire, but the Terriers won't be participating in the conference tournament. Banned due to its move to the Patriot League in 2013, BU will be unable to compete for its sixth consecutive championship crown.

BU finished 8-0-0 and has won 32 straight games against America East opponents. Its record is 12-7-1 overall. It ranks 70th in the current RPI rankings.

Terriers Jessica Morrow and Emma Clark were named Defensive and Midfielder of the Year, respectively. They were joined on the all-conference first team by teammate Madison Clemens.

Hartford will be the No. 1 seed in the 2012 tournament and is joined by No. 2 seed Maine, No. 3 New Hampshire, No. 4 Vermont, No. 5 Albany and No. 6 Stony Brook.

The tournament begins Thursday with two quarterfinals: Vermont-Albany and New Hampshire-Stony Brook.
