Los Angeles gets scare against 'Caps

[MLS PLAYOFFS: Los Angeles-Vancouver] The defending champion Los Angeles came back after falling behind in the 3rd minute to beat the Vancouver Whitecaps, 2-1, with second-half goals from Mike Magee and Landon Donovan and move into the Western Conference semifinals against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Matt Watson blew past stand-in right back Hector Jimenez and found Jamaican rookie Darren Mattocks for the first goal in the 3rd minute.

The Galaxy, which finished with a 23-9 edge in shots, piled on the pressure but could not beat Brad Knighton until Mike Magee, last season's playoff star, scored on a volley in the 69th minute. Four minutes later, the Galaxy was awarded a penalty that Donovan converted for the winner.

SoccerAmerica's "Soccer on TV" newsletter said that this game was going to be on the NBC Sports Network at 10:30 EDT last night. I turned on that channel at 10:33; no soccer. When/where was it on??

Valerie, welcome to the NBC's coverage of soccer where American football take precedence. Unlike with Fox Soccer Channels, soccer will have to wait until football, or any other coverage, is over. The game eventaully was shown live after the conclusion of the football game.

That was a Canadian Football League which was on, which is one of NBCSN's properties.

The game finished about 10:44 edt and the soccer game began about 10:54. Nothing to complaing about here.

Oh, darn. If I had only waited! Thanks, guys. I hope NBC does well when they take over the EPL coverage.
