Illini's seasoning pays off in win over Penn State

[BIG TEN TOURNAMENT] Illinois knocked off No. 4 Penn State, 1-0, in the semifinals of the Big ten Tournament. The win marked the second year in a row the Illini have beaten the Nittany Lions in the postseason.

The lone goal came in the 40th-minute when Megan Pawloski launched her signature flip throw-in deep inside the Penn State box. After the ball bounced two times and went to the far post, Nicole Breece ran on and placed the ball into the back of the net for her third goal on the season.

Freshman Nicole Breece recorded the game-winning goal with junior Megan Pawloski credited with the assist.

"I think this is a more composed team, a more confident team, a team that doesn't get rattled when something bad happens," said Illinois head coach Janet Rayfield. "We've come from behind and faced adversity. The seasoning of this team made the difference in today's game."
