Liverpool Coach Hints at Suarez Reinforcements

Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers admits his team is overly reliant on Luis Suarez to score goals, which is why he hopes to bring in reinforcements during the January transfer window. Suarez scored his seventh goal of the English Premier League season on Sunday, helping 12th-place Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle. Liverpool has only scored 13 goals in ten games so far this season; finishing chances has been a big thorn in the club’s side.

"It was a brilliant goal for Luis and a terrific performance and it bodes well for us going forward," Rodgers said. When asked if the club is too reliant on the Uruguayan striker, he said, "Everyone knows that is the key feature for us. We need to get goals from other areas but I can't complain when we play to that level.

"Once we get that type of player in that is really going to finish off a lot of great work for us,” Rodgers added. "We play him (Suarez) in that false nine role. He's not a traditional number nine who's up there, stood, static. That's why when we get a number of players in who can work off his qualities, that's going to make us a real threat.”
