Tribute to an awful miss 20 years ago?

[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] The nice thing about this dreadful miss in the Israeli third division is that it gives us an excuse to revisit one by Ronny Rosenthal in 1992 that was even worse, and therefore more hilarious.

Moshe Biton plays for Maccabi Yaffo, which lost to Hapoel Katomon Jerusalem 2-1 last week. After seeing this clip, which has become quite popular, you’re going to know Yaffo should have scored at least twice.

Biton has become the subject of ridicule and scorn, including ours, but in an effort to thank the striker for providing us with some humor at his expense we’ve included this remarkably similar miss from a fellow Israeli. Rosenthal’s final touch, while playing for Liverpool, makes Biton look good, at least by comparison.

What do you think?

Here’s Biton’s miss, where his rushed first touch alone in the box goes awry, and the laughter begins.

And here’s a look at Rosenthal’s ghastly shank 20 years ago against Aston Villa. Fans of the English Premier League will tell you everything is bigger and better in the EPL, well in this case I think they’re right. Rosenthal has time to settle the ball, take a touch, all by his lonesome in front of a gaping target -- and he goes off the crossbar. Ouch ...
