Mohawk Valley wins first national title since 2003

[NJCAA DIVISION III] Mohawk Valley Community College won its first NJCAA Division III women's national championship in almost a decade when it beat Gloucester County College, 4-1, in the tournament final. Samantha Getman and Meghan Carlo scored first-half goals 80 seconds apart to spark the Hawks.

Getman had scored both Hawk goals in the second half in the 2-0 in over Anoka-Ramsey in the semifinals and had the game-winner in the 3-2 comeback victory over Holyoke in the quarterfinals.

Anoka-Ramsey beat Richland College, 2-0, for third place.

Mohawk Valley claimed its first national title since the inaugural DIII national championship tournament in 2003. Its last appearance in the national championship match came in 2004 when it fell to Richland on penalty kicks.
