[CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE-SAN DIEGO] WCC champion San Diego stunned Big West champion Cal State Northridge, 2-1, on Connor
Brandt's goal in the 104th minute. The Matadors led in the 89th minute when Dan Delgado's curling free kick ricocheted off the post and into the goal to
force overtime.
It was Delgado's cross in the 103rd minute that Brandt put away with a low line drive to the corner of the goal to lift the Toreros past CSUN.
The Matadors
had scored the first goal of the match in the 73rd minute of action, when the Northridge goalkeeper Michael Abalos kicked the ball the length of the field,
Torero keeper Drew Ilijevski misplayed the ball, leaving a wide open net, and Sagi Lev-Ari put away his 15th goal of the
season.
The Toreros improved to 12-8-0 overall and advanced to face UCLA on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Drake Stadium.
Northridge finished the season
with a 15-7 record, matching a school best for single-season victories in the program's Division I history.
