Michigan had a 16-1 edge in shots on the Purple Eagles in the first half but could not score.

Making its postseason debut, Niagara went ahead in the 59th minute when Bryan Da Cruz beat Michigan goalkeeper Adam Grinwis.

But the game turned quickly as Pereira scored three times, the first on a penalty kick in the 66th minute after a shot by Latif Alashe resulted in a handball inside the box and a penalty attempt for the Wolverines.

Pereira scored on a deflected shot from 25 yards less than three minutes later to give the Wolverines a 2-1 lead.

Pereira's final tally came in the 73rd minute on a second penalty.
