J-League slapstick in a monsoon

[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] Two Japanese teams playing during a flash flood provide few highlights, but lots of slapstick, in a game that should’ve been called off due to weather.

In danger of relegation, Vissel Kobe at least has a 1-0 victory to show for its participation in this game on Saturday at FC Tokyo in ridiculous playing conditions. Tokyo lost in front of 17,000 fans that stuck around to see a game that resembled a pillow fight in a swimming pool, more than a game in Japan’s top league.

The J-League has produced several exciting players recently, but if there are any in this game, I don’t know how you’d spot them.

There’s not a single goal, or nifty pass, to be found in today’s clip. Just lots of slipping, sliding, sloshing, and unfortunate players soon to be searching for heaters, and hot bowls of miso soup, after the game.

Remember, these guys are professionals, don’t try this at your local park ...
