Paradise Valley completes dominating campaign on top

[NJCAA DIVISION I TOURNAMENT] No. 1 Paradise Valley Community College scored 33 seconds into the final and beat Brevard Community College, 3-0, to win the NJCAA Division I women's national title for the second time in three years. Tianna Stewart, Jessie DeLeon -- sister of D.C. United's Nick DeLeon -- and Ashley Johnson scored the goals for Paradise, which finished the season with a scoring margin of 115-8.

"I think the girls set the tone from the first seconds of the game scoring that first goal and they just didn't stop the whole game," Paradise Valley head coach Kacie Bingham said.

Brevard finished second in only its third season of play.

"Reaching the national tournament and playing in the championship game is an incredible accomplishment for BCC and its athletic programs, especially when you consider our women's soccer team has only been in existence for three years," Brevard president Dr. Jim Richey said.
