Chanticleers return to final 16 for first time since 2003

[WAKE FOREST-COASTAL CAROLINA] Jakub Stourac's golden goal gave Coastal Carolina a 2-1 win at No. 15 seed Wake Forest that moves the Chanticleers into the third round of the NCAA Tournament against ACC champion Maryland, their first appearance in the final 16 since 2003.

Coastal (20-2-2) also equaled the 2003 team for the best record in program history with its 20th victory.

Four minutes into overtime, a ball was played ahead to forward Robby Joe Daniels. He ripped a shot that was blocked by a Demon Deacon defender, but Stourac tracked down the ball and slotted the rebound home for the first game-winning goal of his career.

Michael Gamble put Wake Forest ahead in the fourth minute of play, and it was another hour before Justin Portillo finally got the Chanticleers on the scoreboard.
