Snoop Lion, the hip-hop icon formerly known as Snoop Dogg, has said he would consider investing in Celtic after watching the Scottish club defeat Barcelona.
“I got a lot of interest in soccer,” the 41-year-old rapper said in an interview with The Daily Record. “It’s not a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in
sports teams but it is a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in soccer teams.”
Snoop said he saw highlights of Celtic’s UEFA Champions League win over Barcelona on Nov. 7 and
it made him want to invest in the Glasgow club: “I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell.” He
added that he wants “enough of a percentage to get me on the board so I can be heard. I want to bring a bit of Snoop to things.”
Asked to comment on Snoop’s interest, Celtic coach Neil Lennon said: "It would be
interesting if he did put money in. As long as I got invited to one of his parties, it would be OK."
