[BYU-NORTH CAROLINA] Crystal Dunn, who had not scored in the regular season, scored her fourth and fifth goals of theNCAA Tournament, including the game-winner in the 107th minute, to lead North Carolina to a 2-1 victory at BYU before an overflow crowd of 4,291 in the quarterfinals Friday night. The win sends theTar Heels to their first College Cup appearance since 2009.
 
UNC took the lead just over three minutes into the match when Meg Morris fed Dunnat the top of the area. The U.S. U-20 star took a couple of dribbles and fired a shot with pace from 18 yards past BYU goalkeeper Erica Owens.
 
Kealia Ohai almost made it 2-0 in the 11th minute, but the Utahn’s shot went off the right post. The Tar dominated the first part of the game, but BYU got agoal against the run of play when Rachel Manning scored on a penalty kick.

Carolina finished with a 23-8 edge in shots but was lucky to be stillalive in the first overtime when BYU was twice denied on shots at open goals.

First, Lindsi Cutshall evaded UNC goalkeeper Adelaide Gay on a counterattack, dribbling around her with a chance to end the game into an empty net. But Cutshall was slowed down just enough for Brooke Elby totrack back and clear a sure goal over the end line for a corner kick.

On the ensuing corner kick, Manning had header off headed off the line by Dunn, the ACC Defensive Player of theYear.

On UNC’s winning goal, Alyssa Rich flicked a ball on to Ohai, who used her speed to break down the left wing and send a perfect centeringpass to Dunn, who finished into the center of the goal from 15 yards.

It was the reverse — Dunn to Ohai — on the winning goal that gave the USA the 2012 Under-20 Women’s World Cup titleover Germany.
 
In Carolina’s four NCAA Tournament games, the Tar Heels have eliminated a trio of sides who headed into the postseason without having lost since August. Carolinaalso eliminated Radford and Baylor.
