[FLORIDA STATE-NOTRE DAME] Tiffany McCarty’s goal in the 53rd minute — her ninth in the last six games — gaveNo. 1 regional seed Florida State a 1-0 win over Notre Dame in front of a packed crowd of 2,019 at the Seminole Soccer Complex. The Seminoles advanced to the Women’s College Cup for the second year ina row and sixth time in school history.
 
McCarty scored on a header following a passing combination from Jessica Price and Dagny Brynjarsdottir off a Seminole throw-in.

Price heaved the ball into the 18-yard box, where Brynjarsdottir headed it toward the near post. McCartywon, the ball redirecting the pass with a header of her own past Irish keeper Elyse Hight and into the back of the net.
 
Notre Dame had itschances in the second half, but five of its 11 shots were blocked and four others were saved by goalie Kelsey Wys.
 
McCarty almost gave theSeminoles a two-goal lead in the 82nd minute but her shot from about 20 yards caromed off the crossbar.
 
The win extended Florida State’s home win streak to 18 straight –tying the all-time school record set in 2008-09.
