[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] A well struck goal-line clearance collides with Gareth Bale's face to produce Liverpool's only goal in a 2-1 loss at
Tottenham, making for a woozy Welshman at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.
Tottenham’s victory saw it move up to fifth in the Premier League, just above Everton and Arsenal, who tied
1-1 at Goodison Park.
Bale was involved in all three goals in what proved to be a rewarding, and painful, evening for the 23-year-old winger. His beautiful assist set up Aaron
Lennon in the 7th minute, nine minutes later Clint Dempsey drew a foul outside the area, and Bale’s free kick made it 2-0.
A corner in the 72nd leads to
Lennon making what appears to be an excellent clearance on this Steven Gerrard header. Unfortunately for Bale, and his face, he’s just a few feet away, and the ball ends hitting
him flush in the chops and cutting Spurs lead in half. Bale, and his ego, both looked dazed for several minutes afterwards.
Tottenham plays at Craven Cottage on Saturday, when Dempsey
will be a visiting player for the first time, after 225 appearances for Fulham.
