U.S. unbeaten streak reaches 20 games

[USA WOMEN] The USA ended the suspense early, getting a goal from Alex Morgan -- her 28th of the season -- in the first minute and coasting to a 2-0 win over Ireland in their friendly Saturday night at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. The win extended its unbeaten streak to 20 games.

Morgan's 28 goals are the third most in a season for an American player. Abby Wambach scored 31 in 2004, while Michelle Akers holds the record with 39 in 1991.

Morgan also assisted on the second U.S. goal against Ireland scored by Megan Rapinoe.

Arsenal Ladies keeper Emma Byrne made eight saves to keep the Irish in the game.

The USA, which is now 25-1-3 in 2012, will finish its Fan Tribute Tour with games against China Dec. 8 at Ford Field in Detroit, Dec. 12 at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston and Dec. 15 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla.

A nicely played match with the US focusing on short crisp passing. However, the women need to do better on CKs--the drop zone on every one was within the goal area. Also, where, pray tell, is Kelly O'Hara?
