Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has hit out against the backlash his club is facing after suffering its worst start to an English Premier League season in 18 years. The Gunners arecurrently 10th in the standings with 21 points from 15 games. Speaking to reporters ahead of tonight’s UEFA Champions League clash away to Olympiakos, Wenger claimed it is currently“fashionable to be against Arsenal” because results are not going its way.

“It’s unbelievable,” he said, insisting that Arsenal’s situation as “not as dramatic as it is painted atthe moment.” The very defensive sounding Frenchman added: “I don’t believe I am the king of the world when it goes very well nor that I am the worst manager in the world when it doesn’t gowell.”

As he has in the past, Wenger tried to turn attention to the club’s solid financial standing. “This club is in fantastic shape,” he said. “We have a good team,we have a strong structure that we have built over the years; we are in a strong financial situation and we are mentally strong. I can understand that not everybody is pleased about that, but it is afact. That’s why we have to continue to behave like we do.”
