Juve sneaks in, Chelsea out

[UCL REWIND: Wednesday] Juventus sneaked into the knockout stage of the UFA Champion League, knocking out defending champion Chelsea, when it won at Shakhtar Donetsk, 1-0, on an own goal. The Blues, 6-1 winners over FC Nordsjaelland, became the first defending champions to not advance from the group stage in the tournament's history. Celtic and Galatasaray completed the field for the round of 16. Kris Commons scored with a late penalty kick to give Celtic a 2-1 win over Spartak Moscow. The Scottish reached the knockout stage for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

    Kris Commons should never again be allowed to take a penalty kick. He totally lucked out, as his shot hit the underside of the crossbar at its middle.

    Wrong on left-right placement because it was centered, and horribly wrong by being struck to go high.
