MLS: Dallas Burn signs Milton Reyes

The Dallas Burn signed Honduran defender Milton Reyes following a trade with D.C. United for future considerations.

Reyes, a standout for Honduras in qualifying for the 2002 World Cup, was signed by D.C. United in 2002 but missed the 2003 season because of a knee injury.

He was waived by D.C. United on Feb. 27, but D.C. United retained his MLS rights, which necessitated the deal with Dallas.

''We had Milton in camp for a few games, made a decision to pursue him and, after lengthy negotiations, I'm happy that we were finally able to sign him,'' said Dallas coach Colin Clarke.

Former U.S. U-20 defender Philip Salyer, signed by Dallas in 2003 after playing for Werder Bremen's amateur team in Germany, has been playing Reyes' right back position.

To make room for Reyes, the Burn released midfielder Gavin Glinton.

Dallas is off to a 2-0-1 start, its best start since 1998.
