As Messi Extends Barca Deal, Ronaldo is Still Unhappy at Real

  • La Marca, Thursday, December 20, 2012 12:12 PM

La Marca claims that Lionel Messi’s new contract extension at Barcelona, which raises his salary to $21 million and will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2016, has shifted the focus in Spain back to unsettled Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star has yet to secure a new contract extension and is said to be unhappy with his overall treatment at the club.

According to the report, Ronaldo still intends to leave Real in the summer, believing the club should have already offered him an improved and extended deal. And while the club intends to do both, the player is said to be unhappy because he does not receive the same star treatment at Real that Messi receives at Barca.

Ronaldo has scored 170 goals in 169 games for Los Blancos in three and a half years at the club. He is currently the highest paid player in the squad alongside Brazilian playmaker Kaka, earning $13.3 million per season. He is currently the 9th best paid player in the world.
