Georgetown's Allen named Men's Freshman of the Year

[SOCCER AMERICA AWARDS] Brandon Allen, who led Georgetown to the NCAA Division I final, is the 2012 Soccer America Freshman of the Year. A product of the New York Red Bulls academy, Allen led the Hoyas with 16 goals, tied for sixth in the country. Ten of his goals were game-winners.

Allen scored in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to give Georgetown a 1-0 win over the 2011 runner-up Charlotte and also scored in games won in shootouts against Syracuse and Maryland.

After the season ended, he was called up to train with the U.S. under-20 national team.
