Lampard Turns Down Huge Offer From China

Frank Lampard will not be joining ex-teammates Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka in China. The Sun reports that Guizhou Renhe did its best to lure the outgoing Chelsea midfielder, offering around $400,000 per week in a two-year deal that would have started in March, but the Super League club eventually gave up after the 34-year-old refused to commit to the project.

“The contract offered to Lampard was amazing and he would have been treated like a God out there,” a source told The Sun. It would have been a great adventure for him.” Two months ago, Guizhou Renhe said on its Web site that Lampard had agreed to the switch and would be its captain. “But although there were a lot of talks, [Lampard] would never give a definite ‘yes’ and a couple of weeks ago Guizhou Renhe finally gave up,” the source said.

With China out of the picture, the England international is now tipped for a move this summer to either the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS or possibly Manchester United.
