QPR Signs Remy; Closes in on M'Vila

Queen’s Park Rangers on Wednesday completed the signing of striker Loic Remy from Marseille and is close to completing the signing of holding midfielder Yann M’Vila from Rennes, the club has confirmed. According to Sky Sports News, Remy, 26, cost around $12.8 million, while M’Vila, 22, will cost around $11.2 million.

Speaking after QPR’s 1-0 FA Cup replay win against West Brom on Tuesday, manager Harry Redknapp said he looked at Remy and M’Vila when he was coach of Tottenham. Both players will be arriving at Loftus Road at a huge discount from their reported market prices last season: Remy would have cost $32 million last year, while Rennes turned down a $45 million bid for M’Vila last January. Remy has scored just one goal in 14 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille this season, while M’Vila has had several off-the-field problems, which culminated in a ban from international duty with France until June 30, 2014.

Remy was close to signing for Newcastle when QPR chairman Tony Fernandes swooped in with a better offer. According to Redknapp, Remy is “quick, a French international, his movement is excellent and he has the potential to be a real star in the Premier League.” As for M’Vila, “If he behaves himself, and plays as we know he can, he'll do well."
