What They're Saying

"Everywhere, be it Germany, France or England, summer is the best period of the year. And that is the season we don't play. In deepest winter, when it is very cold and snowing, we play nearly all the time in conditions that are disagreeable for both players and spectators. It is not logical."

-- Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, also chairman European Club Association. Rummenigge told France Football that FIFA and UEFA are "seriously thinking" about changing the European league soccer calendar to one that would resemble MLS's. (SI.com)

Yes, absolutely they need to change to a summer calender. Soccer is not a winter sport. They do NOT play soccer during the Winter Olympics, along with skiing and Ice Hockey, do they? Of course not. They play IN SUMMER MONTHS!
Just like the World Cup. The palys is better in summer and less risk of injury (pulled muscles). Soccer was not meant to be played snow or sub freezing temperatures.

It's time for FIFA to get with it.
